Here at Barbour-Hendrick Honda Greenville we have been hearing word that various automakers were working on deals with Google to create new technology for the automotive world.  Well, we just learned that these rumored deals are true, and each one comes as a part of a larger picture, one that our brand is getting involved with.

Honda is teaming up with Audi, General Motors, and Hyundai in working with Google, a move that has created the Open Automotive Alliance (OAA).  The main goal of this accord is to incorporate Google's Android operating system on a larger scale within the world of automobiles.

It has also been reported that global tech company NVIDIA will lend a helping hand to the OAA in creating the technology.  It is unclear when each auto company that is involved will see the Android system ready for their vehicles, but preliminary talk suggest that a vehicle could be furnished with the tech sometime by the end of the year.

We can only hope that our brand is the first to get their hands on the system, and we will definitely update you on the progress here on our blog as more info reaches the public sphere.

Currently, Honda has a working relationship with Google's rival in Apple, using the Siri Eyes Free technology in our vehicles.  The future of this partnership may be at stake, and it will be interesting to see how Apple takes this new news.

We cannot wait to see an advanced Android system hit the vehicles we have here in the inventory of new Honda models.  In the meantime, stop by our Greenville, North Carolina dealership to browse our current selection and take any model that catches your eye for a test drive.
