Following up on our report about Honda Racing's F1 Engine Preview, we recently got a little more insight into the move and what it could mean for our Barbour-Hendrick Honda Greenville customers.

Honda and McLaren have a storied history on the Formula One circuit, including their joint role in sponsoring the gifted Ayrton Senna during his al too brief racing career. Although more recently Honda veered away from the track for a few years, new F1 regulations have encouraged the automotive outfit to make a grand return.

F1 bosses are pushing for fewer emissions overall and, as such, they've put it to engineering teams to turn out high-tech power plants that are more potent are cleaner than ever before. And that's a challenge Honda simply couldn't resist.

They undoubtedly hope to share the podium with McLaren on a number of occasions. However, it seems as though Honda executives are really taking on this initiative so that new technology can be developed and tested out on the track before, ultimately, finding its way into production models.

We likely won't be hosting any Grand Prix events here in Greenville, NC any time soon, but we're psyched to learn that powerful hybrid innovations will eventually be on display at our Honda dealer.

We'll be sure to follow developments with a watchful eye and we'll report our findings back to you. But in the meantime, we're happy to offer you quite a few ecofriendly models from the 2014 Accord Plugin-In Hybrid to the Honda Fit EV. Stop in today to check one out for yourself.
