"The STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) awards, an initiative of The Manufacturing Institute, recognize women in manufacturing who encourage other women and mentor and support the next generation of female talent to pursue manufacturing careers. Women represent 47 percent of the labor force but only 27 percent of the manufacturing workforce."

So reads "Honda Associate Honored as Leading Woman in Manufacturing," a recent press release that talks about manufacturing associate Jan Gansheimer and her receipt of a STEP award just yesterday. Gansheimer has held several positions at Honda, and is currently the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources for Honda North America.

"Honorees at the gala were recognized for advancing STEP's initiative to create awareness for manufacturing as the most advanced, high-tech industry in the U.S., as well as for advocating for education and job training policies that strengthen the U.S. manufacturing workforce," the release goes on to say.
