How To Replace A Flat Tire Yourself

There are few things that are worse than being stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire. There may come a time when you have to change a flat tire yourself so it is important to have the right tools and knowledge to get the job done.

First, you should always find a safe place to park. Secondly, you should secure your vehicle. Your engine should be turned off and the emergency or parking brake should be engaged. Once you have turned off your engine, grab your jack, spare tire, and tools. Before you jack up your car, you should slightly loosen the lug nuts.

Your owner's manual will come in handy when lifting up your car. Crank it up at least 6 inches. Once you have done that, remove the lug nuts and wheel. You can then remove the flat tire and put on your spare. Once you have put on your spare, you should then slowly lower your vehicle to the ground and remove the jack and block.
